Raising over $26 million since its\u00a0inception\u00a0in 2001, the Breakthrough T1D Gala is one of Charlotte\u2019s most sought-after and historically successful fundraising events. Your support will fund critical research to better treat,\u00a0prevent\u00a0and\u00a0ultimately cure\u00a0T1D!<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">During Erskine\u2019s time as White House Chief of Staff under The Clinton Administration, he was instrumental in\u00a0establishing\u00a0the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breakthrought1d.org\/explore-advocacy\/special-diabetes-program\/\">Special Diabetes Program<\/a> (SDP) in 1997. The SDP is a critical source of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breakthrought1d.org\/explore-research\/\">funding for T1D research<\/a> at the National Institutes of Health. Continuously funded since 1997, the SDP\u00a0is responsible for\u00a0more than\u00a0$3.5 billion\u00a0in T1D research and many drugs,\u00a0devices\u00a0and therapies that the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breakthrought1d.org\/t1d-community\/\">T1D community<\/a> is\u00a0benefitting\u00a0from today!\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">Crandall and Erskine have served in countless leadership roles for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breakthrought1d.org\/\">Breakthrough T1D<\/a> (formerly JDRF) including the Board of Chancellors and International President of JDRF.
