We are looking forward to an amazing evening at Mohegan Sun.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The 2024 Breakthrough T1D Promise Ball will be held on Saturday, April 27<sup>th<\/sup> at Mohegan Sun.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About Type 1 Diabetes<br \/>\n<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breakthrought1d.org\/t1d-basics\/\">Type 1 diabetes<\/a> (T1D) is an autoimmune disease that impacts millions of people around the world. The disease occurs when the body\u2019s immune system attacks and destroys the beta cells in the pancreas that produce insulin, a hormone essential to turning food into energy. Without insulin, glucose from food stays in the blood, where it can cause serious damage to all of the body\u2019s organ systems. It requires constant carbohydrate counting, blood-glucose testing, and lifelong dependence on injected insulin.
