Join other individuals, families, and caregivers affected by T1D at all life stages for a day of education and connection at the TypeOneNation Summit. Talk to experts about research advances, meet with other attendees to exchange ideas, and participate in discussions important to you.
Been There, Done That: Designed for parents, discussion will be led by a diverse group of panelists who were diagnosed at a young age sharing their personal experiences and answering your questions about how they managed T1D during major childhood milestones (puberty, driving, new school, first job, traveling for the first time without parents, teenage years, etc.)
In School Management and Advocacy: Learn how to partner with your child’s school to make diabetes management a positive part of the school day for the child, parent, and nurse.
Research Advancements & Gadgets: Jennifer Sherr, MD PhD, Assistant Professor, Division of Pediatric Endocrinology at Yale, Breakthrough T1D Board Member will provide a review of cutting edge research and introduce us to some of the newest products aimed at improving lives of people with type 1 diabetes.
Know No Limits – The Everyday Athlete: Type one diabetes doesn’t need to stop you from achieving your fitness goals. This session will help you learn ways to manage your blood glucose levels while exercising, along with motivation to help you get off the sofa.
Becoming Unfastened: Designed for those with type one diabetes transitioning to adult independence. Panel discussion will include tips for going off to college, entering the workforce, and navigating personal relationships.
Caregiver Training 101: Designed for extended family members, babysitters, coaches, and other potential caregivers to children with diabetes. This session will provide an overview of diabetes management, including: insulin, device management systems, meal/snack planning, how to handle high and low blood sugars (what is an emergency and what is not).
