The Walk to Cure Diabetes is Breakthrough T1D’s largest fundraising event held at more than 200 locations across the world. Each year, more than 900,000 people participate in the Walk and raise funds so that we can continue to be the leading global organization focused on T1D research. The Walk brings people together for a worthy goal, is fun for families and builds camaraderie among company employees. It provides hope, empowerment and a sense of community.

The motivation each participant has starts with a story they are quick to share! It may be for themselves, a loved one or a friend, a co-worker or perhaps because someone they know or care about asked them to participate. Each year, more than 15,000 children and 15,000 adults – approximately 80 people per day – are diagnosed with type 1 diabetes (T1D) in the United States. We walk for them, and as many as 3 million Americans that have T1D. Who’s your #1?

Breakthrough T1D is focused on finding a cure for type 1 diabetes (T1D) and its complications through the support of research. We have expanded our goals to improve the lives of all people affected by T1D by accelerating progress on the most promising opportunities for curing, better treating and preventing T1D.
