Flora Mason Volunteer of the Year – Danielle Nakhle
in Volunteers
Stuart and Flora Mason, along with five other families, founded the Breakthrough T1D Nevada Chapter in 1970. Flora has been tireless in her fundraising efforts ever since. In 1998, the Chapter recognized Flora for her incredible support and commitment by creating the Flora Mason Volunteer of the Year Award. From that point forward, each year we recognize a current board member for his or her outstanding commitment to Breakthrough T1D.
This year’s recipient of the Flora Mason Volunteer of the Year Award is Danielle Nakhle.
Danielle stopped by the Breakthrough T1D Nevada Chapter office just a few short years ago to inquire about how she could get more involved with the chapter, and from that point forward, her involvement in all Breakthrough T1D programs were generous and impactful.
Bringing the Nevada Chapter a connection with her medical practice and research center, The Palm Medical Group and the Palm Research Center, she helped show the local Breakthrough T1D community the direct benefit of research dollars as they became the first medical facility in Las Vegas to provide phase one and two of the Type 1 Diabetes Trial Net study.
Danielle and her husband also chaired the 2015 Breakthrough T1D One Walk and worked tirelessly to ensure that we not only met but exceeded our fundraising goal. The Palm Medical Group was a Gold level Breakthrough T1D One Walk sponsor, they helped pursue new sponsors to join them in their support of the walk, and helped to organize two walk teams at their office locations that raised a combined $5,600 for the walk.
Thank you Danielle for all you do to support the Breakthrough T1D Nevada Chapter as we work to turn Type One into Type None!
