Volunteers of the Month – Jason and Michelle Leavitt

in

The Nevada Chapter Volunteer of the Month program is sponsored by our community partners at Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers. Each month we highlight one of our fabulous chapter volunteers and that volunteer will receive gift cards for free meals from Raising Cane’s.

We are pleased to announce our Raising Canes Volunteers of the Month for this month are Jason and Michelle Leavitt.

The Leavitt family has been involved with Breakthrough T1D for several years. Their walk team, Team DiabErick, was the top new family team in 2012. Shortly after the walk in 2014, their second child was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. In honor of their two kids with T1D, their walk team in 2015 was renamed from Team DiabErick and became Two Against One.

The entire family is always first in line to volunteer at any chapter event and both children with T1D are in our Youth Ambassador program.

The Leavitts are part of the team that delivers the Bag of Hope to newly diagnosed families in the hospital and also serve as Outreach Volunteers to provide support to those families during the first few months after diagnosis.

Currently Jason and one of their three children are training and fundraising for the Ride to Cure Diabetes taking place in Tucson, AZ in November and are planning to ride 104 miles for type 1 diabetes research.

The family has set up a Facebook group for people to follow along on their journey with type 1 diabetes.

Thank you Jason and Michelle and the rest of the family for always supporting Breakthrough T1D with your time, efforts and advocacy.
