Volunteer of the Month – Christina Hollowood
in Volunteers
The Nevada Chapter Volunteer of the Month program is sponsored by our community partners at Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers. Each month we highlight one of our fabulous chapter volunteers and that volunteer will receive gift cards for free meals from Raising Cane’s.
We are pleased to announce our Raising Canes Volunteer of the Month for June is Christina Hollowood.
Christina has served a variety of roles with the Southern Nevada Chapter since her son Ben was diagnosed in 2014.
After leading the top new family team for the 2014 walk and serving as the Grand Marshal on walk day, Christina joined the volunteer team as a Family Team Coach for the walks in 2015 and 2016. In that role she helped contact our new teams and answered questions to help them prepare for walk day.
Christina has also volunteered for several years at the Hope Gala, assisting guests picking up their winning silent auction items at the end of the evening.
Most recently, Christina became an Outreach Volunteer in the T1D Connections Program, helping new families adjust to life with T1D in the first few years after diagnosis.
Although she is very busy as an educator in the Clark County School District during the school year, Christina also volunteers her time in the Breakthrough T1D office when she can during the summer.
Thank you Christina for the commitment of you and your family as Breakthrough T1D volunteers!
