endocrin\u00f3logo pedi\u00e1tricos son expertos en diabetes tipo 1 infantil pero pueden estar menos familiarizados con el tratamiento de la DT1 en la edad adulta. La transici\u00f3n de tu endocrin\u00f3logo pedi\u00e1trico a un endocrin\u00f3logo de adultos puede ser complicada, y los adultos j\u00f3venes que pasan por esta transici\u00f3n pueden tener problemas para controlar la glucosa en sangre as\u00ed como otros problemas de salud mental. Por ejemplo, podr\u00edas venir preparado con una lista de preguntas que te gustar\u00eda que te contestara el m\u00e9dico, y cuando \u00e9ste te pregunte c\u00f3mo van las cosas, \u00a1intenta responder antes de que lo hagan tus padres o tutores!   <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"wp-block-list-item\">Intenta iniciar el proceso de transici\u00f3n lo antes posible. Por ejemplo, al principio de la adolescencia, los padres\/tutores pueden empezar a transferir gradualmente las tareas de control de la diabetes al adolescente. Al menos un a\u00f1o antes de pasar a la atenci\u00f3n de adultos, pide a tu endocrin\u00f3logo pedi\u00e1trico que te derive a un endocrin\u00f3logo de adultos para asegurarte de que no haya lagunas en tu atenci\u00f3n.    <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"wp-block-list-item\">Si es posible, transfi\u00e9rete a un m\u00e9dico de atenci\u00f3n primaria de adultos antes de transferirte a un endocrin\u00f3logo de adultos. Con las opciones de insulina y la tecnolog\u00eda de diabetes existentes hoy en d\u00eda, tienes significativamente una mayor flexibilidad en lo que comes y cu\u00e1ndo lo comes en comparaci\u00f3n con la vida con diabetes tipo 1 (DT1) en a\u00f1os anteriores.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"wp-block-list-item\">Aprender sobre nutrici\u00f3n es una parte muy importante del manejo de tus niveles de glucosa en sangre, tus dosis de insulina y tu salud general. Muchas de las cosas que comes o bebes afectan tus niveles de glucosa en sangre y tus necesidades de insulina, unas m\u00e1s que otras.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"wp-block-list-item\">Aprender a contar los carbohidratos es importante en la vida con diabetes tipo 1 (DT1) en virtud de que los carbohidratos son los que m\u00e1s afectan tus niveles de glucosa en sangre. \u00a1Aprender a ajustar tus dosis de insulina con base en los carbohidratos, las grasas y las prote\u00ednas de cualquier comida toma tiempo! cerveza, los vinos m\u00e1s dulces, los c\u00f3cteles azucarados y la sidra contienen una cantidad significativa de carbohidratos por s\u00ed solos. El licor puro generalmente contiene cero carbohidratos pero, con frecuencia, se mezcla con jugos de fruta muy dulces, soda o aditivos si es saborizado. Esto significa que puede que necesites m\u00e1s insulina para ciertas bebidas alcoh\u00f3licas en comparaci\u00f3n con otras. Considera cada bebida cuidadosamente e investiga el contenido de carbohidratos, de la misma manera que lo har\u00edas si se tratara de alimentos, para que te ayuden a estimar las dosis de insulina.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"wp-block-list-item\">Ingerir alcohol puede ocasionar una hipoglucemia (nivel bajo de glucosa en sangre) retrasada, incluso horas despu\u00e9s de haber bebido. Tu cuerpo ve el alcohol (o etanol) como una toxina, lo que significa que tu h\u00edgado querr\u00e1 procesarlo y removerlo de tu cuerpo lo m\u00e1s r\u00e1pidamente posible. El h\u00edgado parar\u00e1 sus otras funciones usuales, como la liberaci\u00f3n de cantidades peque\u00f1as de glucosa cada hora, mientras se concentra en procesar el alcohol que ingeriste. Esto aumenta tu riesgo de hipoglucemia, y la actividad, como bailar, combinada con la ingesta de alcohol, puede aumentar a\u00fan m\u00e1s tu riesgo de una hipoglucemia severa.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"wp-block-list-item\">El glucag\u00f3n para casos de emergencia es un tratamiento para la hipoglucemia severa que le indica a tu h\u00edgado que libere una cantidad grande de la glucosa almacenada. Si has consumido una cantidad grande de alcohol, los tratamientos con glucag\u00f3n para casos de emergencia puede que no sean tan efectivos porque tu h\u00edgado est\u00e1 concentrado en eliminar el alcohol de tu cuerpo. No responder\u00e1 al glucag\u00f3n tan plenamente como lo har\u00eda si no hubiera alcohol en tu sistema.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"wp-block-list-item\">Tomar alcohol en exceso en un tiempo corto aumenta tu riesgo de una hipoglucemia. Ten carbohidratos a mano mientras tomas y come algo mientras bebes y despu\u00e9s de haber bebido.
