35 Faces, 35 Years of Walking, 35 Reasons to Give
Guess who just had their 1st diaversary? ME! I was diagnosed on April 8, 2015 when I was 3 years old. The hardest part about being diagnosed was that my Daddy, a U.S. Army Sergeant, was in Korea for work. My family was able to get connected to the Columbus support group, and there we learned about the Breakthrough T1D One Walk. We raised $3,235 and were the top new team last year! This year I hope to raise $4,000. My favorite activity at the Breakthrough T1D One Walk is dancing with my friends. We have a BIG Walk team! My Mama, Daddy, sister Ella, Nanny, Poppa, Great Papa, Grammie, Pops, and many more family members and friends come Walk with us. My Mama likes to fundraise on Facebook and send out e-mails. My mama also says “Knowledge is power! It is important to help educate the population about what type 1 is, and advertising is key to raising awareness to promote the Breakthrough T1D One Walk. We are never ever giving up until there is a cure.” I want a cure because it means no more worrying for my Mama and Daddy.
