2016/17 One Walk Impact

Thanks to your steadfast support, the Eastern PA Chapter recently organized four fantastic One Walks this fall with thousands in attendance – in Allentown, Newtown, Reading, and Philadelphia  –  with two coming up this spring in Stroudsburg and Moosic!

Our 2016/17 One Walks have cumulatively raised a whopping $1,341,849 so far for type 1 diabetes (T1D) research, which is 61% of our Chapter goal of $2,205,501.

However, we can’t rest on our laurels! We are committed to meeting (if not exceeding!) our $2.2 million goal for all six walks and we will not stop until we close that gap. FDA approval of the artificial pancreas system has proven to us the results of hard work here at Breakthrough T1D and we are even more inspired to keep going until we find a cure.

Did you know you can donate & fundraise for our One Walks all the way up to the end of our fiscal year on June 30, 2017? Well, you can, so don’t stop now – let’s keep the momentum going! Here are a few ideas:

• Check with your donors to see if their employers have a matching program. Please submit all matching requests to the Breakthrough T1D Eastern PA Chapter, and contact philadelphia@BreakthroughT1D.org with any inquiries.
• Follow up on any grant applications you may have submitted, or consider applying for one.
• Organize a special event and earmark the proceeds to your walk.

We Need Your Help!

Although our Walk is over…the quest to raise funds critical to research is ongoing!  The Breakthrough T1D Sneaker Sale Campaign is a great way to engage the community, raise funds and build awareness! This is an easy ask…think of places you frequent and ask then to support Breakthrough T1D Sneaker Campaign!!! The Breakthrough T1D sneaker sale campaign is a turnkey, retail-driven promotion. Paper sneakers are sold for $1 or more each. The best part is that hosting a sneaker sale campaign will cost the business/company nothing!  Breakthrough T1D Eastern Pennsylvania Chapter will provide all of the materials and support needed to get them started.
