The Breakthrough T1D Eastern Pennsylvania Chapter office is happy to announce the addition of Teresa Dickens to the team as a Development Assistant!

Teresa graduated from Muhlenberg College in 2015 with a B.A. in Business Administration with a Concentration in Marketing and a Dance Minor. She previously worked as a fashion merchandiser at Bloomingdale’s. Teresa was diagnosed with T1D at age 4 and her twin sister was diagnosed at 19. The Breakthrough T1D has been a part of her life for as long as she can remember, participating in events such as the annual walk, Children’s Congress etc.  She is looking forward to making it an even bigger part of her life as an employee.

T1D Community Connection Program

Are you interested in connecting with individuals/families in a meaningful way to foster relationships by welcoming, supporting, guiding, and connecting them to the larger T1D community and Breakthrough T1D? The Eastern PA Chapter is recruiting to train outreach volunteers to join the T1D Community Connections Program. Each Outreach Volunteer will be assigned a new family and will be asked to reach out to the family once a month for the first year of their diagnosis to engage and support the connection. For example, we would want to invite the new families to the One Walks and to the TypeOneNation Summit. There will be an easy-to-use online tracking tool to help track assignments each month and enter in information about your interactions. This tool also provides you with Breakthrough T1D resources right at your fingertips to easily click and share with families.

Two training sessions will be coming up in early February – one during the week and one on the weekend to help accommodate various schedules.

Weeknight Training – TBD early February

Weekend Training – Saturday, February 4, 2017 from 10am-12pm

If you would like to support and connect with newly diagnosed families, please contact the chapter at Philadelphia@BreakthroughT1D.org or by phone at 610-664-9255 to learn more and RSVP for the training.
