The Bullocks are a united family\u2014always ready to help when Merritt\u2019s blood sugar drops so low that she cannot see clearly, to sit beside her as she gives herself insulin at a restaurant, or to run into a store while traveling to find juice when she needs it urgently. Whether at home, around the dinner table, or miles away on a family trip, they face each challenge together.  Every day, Merritt makes approximately 180 additional decisions simply to stay healthy and safe\u2014decisions about food, insulin, exercise, sleep, travel, and constantly changing blood sugar levels that most of us never have to consider. She has never allowed diabetes to define her, but her family knows that she never gets a day\u2014or even an hour\u2014off from managing it.
