When we met I had very little knowledge of T1D. I quickly jumped into researching to educate myself. Through the years we have been together, I have done everything I can to stay up to date on all things T1D so I can support him.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">What got you into running:<\/span> I ran cross country in middle school and high school, which was initially what got me into running. I then went on to play five years of NCAA lacrosse in college. Now that I am outside of organized sports, I find running as a hobby very enjoyable.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">How many times have you completed the ASICS Falmouth Road Race:<\/span> I have completed the Falmouth Road Race two times!<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">What you are most looking forward to at the Falmouth Road Race:<\/span> I am most looking forward to the crowds and supporters on race day. As a nurse I\u2019ve seen many patients with diabetes, but when it\u2019s your family member it becomes a whole different ball game. In that moment, life as we knew it shifted. David\u2019s strength throughout has been nothing short of inspiring. Watching him navigate the challenges of his teenage years and college life and now adulthood as a 23-year-old college graduate\u2014while balancing the demands of diabetes \u2014 has been one of the hardest, yet most rewarding experiences as a parent. He lives each day, never letting this disease define him.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">What got you into running:<\/span> I\u2019m a fitness enthusiast and have been running my whole life, mostly for exercise. I have run several 5k and turkey trot 10k races, but I only ran my first half marathon last year.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">How many times have you completed the ASICS Falmouth Road Race:<\/span> ZERO. I have watched it every year for the last 20 years and could never see myself running it, nor could I figure out how to get in once I decided I wanted to race it instead of watching it. Despite the many challenges this type of diagnosis poses, she has let NOTHING stand in her way. She is eight years old and is thriving. She was the only girl on her flag football team. She played winter and spring hockey, and is currently playing baseball. She is strong, brave, and reminds us all not to let anything stand in our way. I am brave. I can do this.&#8221; -Elizabeth White<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">What is your connection to Breakthrough T1D and T1D:<\/span> My daughter, Elizabeth, was diagnosed with T1D on March 8, 2023 at age five. She has inspired me to run in her honor because she is brave, strong, and resilient. Breakthrough T1D has been there to support our family and provide us with strength on some of the most difficult days of our lives. We are so grateful for the Breakthrough T1D community and all that they have done for us. Each event that we attend reminds us that we are not alone in this fight and that a cure is coming.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">What got you into running:<\/span> Training for the Boston Marathon in 2024.
