Day 10 – Meet James
October 5, 2007 was the day that my life changed dramatically. I was only 4 years old, and my pancreas just stopped working. Little did I know that “normal” would become constant blood sugar testing, pumping and carbohydrate counting. T1D can sure be a lot to manage. I have to be responsible about my blood sugars all the time. It’s very hard on me because I love to play sports! Without constant attention, my blood sugar can fall dangerously low. It’s hard being only 10 years old and taking time out from a competitive sporting event to keep testing. My family works hard to raise money for a cure. We take part in the Breakthrough T1D golf outing and the walk. One year my parents even biked for a cure in the Tour de Tucson. My wish is one day there will be a cure for myself and all of the other people affected by T1D!
