Help Us Change Victoria’s Odds

in

August 12th 2012 was the day my life changed forever.   I remember my parents rushing me to the hospital. I was just 4 years old and I was ready to start kindergarten in just a few weeks.   I remember being scared not knowing what was going on.  I was now a type 1 diabetic.

Some people would let this stop them.  Some people would give up.  Some people would let the fact that you have to monitor your blood sugar, watch what you eat, and give yourself injections hold them back.   Not me!  I go to school every day.   I dance 4 hours a week and next year I’ll be doing competitive dance.  I play in my schools orchestra, sing in the chorus, and I play soccer for my town.  I’m also a straight A student.

So I guess my disease did change me.  It’s made me stronger.  It’s made me choose a healthier active life.   It’s shown me that there’s nothing I can’t do!  When I get older, my future goal is to be a surgeon.  And I will reach my goals!  I plan to always be an advocate for kids just like me.
