Having been diagnosed at 4 years old, today at 23 years old I can’t remember a life without type 1 diabetes.

Some of my first memories of T1D are teaching my elementary school friends about my life with T1D, and years later moving away to college and living on my own as a young adult with T1D. I’ve learned that I, alone, am responsible and in control of my health and well being. We, as type 1’s need to consciously balance life’s responsibilities while making decisions to treat our disease every minute of every day. Although we are fully responsible, it does not mean that we are alone in our fight. We all need the support of family, friends, and foundations like Breakthrough T1D. I am grateful and believe in Breakthrough T1D’s mission is to find a cure for type 1 diabetes and build community around those who are affected.

I am so excited to share an upcoming event called Rock the Cure, hosted by Breakthrough T1D at Downtown Social in NYC on May 15th! It will be such a fun night with food, an open bar, and a live band while raising money to help find a cure for type 1 diabetes💙 What could be better!?
