Welcoming Breakthrough T1D Illinois’ New Executive Director – Mimi Crabtree

We are so excited to welcome the new Breakthrough T1D Illinois Chapter’s Executive Director, Mimi Crabtree! Mimi brings more than 30 years of development and public engagement experience to our team, and will oversee our chapter’s major gifts, corporate development and board development efforts, among other responsibilities.
Mimi has a depth of experience across a wide range of organizations most recently serving as the Vice President of Major Gifts at United Way of Metropolitan Chicago. Prior to joining the United Way, Crabtree was Director of Individual Giving at the Dallas Symphony and, for several years, was Vice President of Development at the Dallas Arboretum and Botanic Gardens. Mimi grew up in Mexico City, Mexico and Santiago, Chile and speaks Spanish fluently. Although not a Chicago native, Crabtree lived in Chicagoland for 15 years serving as Director of Family Services at the Church of the Holy Spirit in Lake Forest, IL, prior to moving to Dallas. Mimi and her husband currently live in Chicago’s Gold Coast with their two daughters.
