{"id":12934,"date":"2026-01-20T16:42:27","date_gmt":"2026-01-20T16:42:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.breakthrought1d.org\/illinois\/?p=12934"},"modified":"2026-06-01T18:57:29","modified_gmt":"2026-06-01T18:57:29","slug":"bt1dilyouthambassadors","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.breakthrought1d.org\/illinois\/2026\/01\/20\/bt1dilyouthambassadors\/","title":{"rendered":"Breakthrough T1D Illinois Youth Ambassadors 2026-2027"},"content":{"rendered":"<section class=\"wp-block-group wp-block-group--section alignfull is-layout-constrained has-background has-light-gray-background-color\">\n<p class=\"is-style-large-body\" style=\"text-align: center\">Breakthrough T1D Illinois Youth Ambassadors are children and teens living with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breakthrought1d.org\/t1d-basics\/\">type 1 diabetes<\/a> (T1D), between the ages of 8 and 18, who are involved with the educational, fundraising, and community volunteer efforts of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breakthrought1d.org\/\">Breakthrough T1D<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section class=\"wp-block-group wp-block-group--section alignfull is-layout-constrained\">The Youth Ambassador Program teaches young people to raise awareness of type 1 diabetes (T1D) in their community. Youth Ambassadors will gain confidence in public speaking, demonstrate leadership skills and collaborate with T1D peers while advancing the mission of Breakthrough T1D through fundraising and storytelling. Those chosen to serve as Youth Ambassadors are community representatives of Breakthrough T1D supporting our vision of a world without T1D.<\/section>\n<p><strong>The core values of the Youth Ambassador Program include:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Education &amp; Outreach<\/li>\n<li>Fundraising<\/li>\n<li>Speaking &amp; Storytelling<\/li>\n<li>Volunteering<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Youth Ambassador Program Requirements:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Must be between 8-18 years of age<\/li>\n<li>Must have T1D and\u00a0a positive outlook on life with diabetes<\/li>\n<li>Willingness to share your personal story in front of small and large groups<\/li>\n<li>Register as the team captain for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www2.breakthrought1d.org\/site\/SPageServer?pagename=walk_homepage\">Breakthrough T1D Walk<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Create an annual peer to peer fundraiser<\/li>\n<li>$3,000 annual fundraising requirement<\/li>\n<li>Attend local Youth Ambassador Orientation<\/li>\n<li>Commit to participate for a two-year term<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you are between the ages of 8-18 and would like to represent Breakthrough T1D in your community, speak and volunteer at local events, socialize with other T1D kids or teens and make a difference in the fight against T1D then the Youth Ambassador Program is for you!
