Youth Ambassadors are kids and teens living with T1D who commit to a school year of volunteer service and dedicate themselves to engaging in community activities, gaining confidence in speaking publicly about T1D, developing leadership skills, connecting and collaborating with peers with T1D, enhancing story-telling skills, and working with Maryland chapter staff members and T1D leaders while advancing the mission of Breakthrough T1D for a world without T1D.  To be considered for the Youth Ambassador Program,\u00a0applicants must meet the following requirements:   Between the ages of 5-18 years (Kindergarten \u2013 Grade 12)  Diagnosed with T1D  Have a positive outlook on life and diabetes  Commit to the program for the entire school-year (September-June)  Program Expectations for Youth Ambassadors program 2026-2027:   Commit to volunteer a minimum of five hours to support Breakthrough T1D programs and\/or events  Commit to attend and\/or participate in a minimum of four Breakthrough T1D engagements or events    Participate in at least one fundraising opportunity and commit to raising a minimum of $100 (Breakthrough T1D Walk, Breakthrough T1D Your Way, Breakthrough T1D Ride)  Complete a minimum of one Stewardship Opportunity (Thank You Cards, Breakthrough T1D Walk new family letter writing, in-store thank you&#039;s for retail campaigns, etc.)  Attend Quarterly Youth Ambassador Zoom Calls  Attend Youth Ambassador Orientation in September as scheduled by the chapter  Applications close at 11:59pm on Tuesday, September 8th.
