Meet Eric Dietz – Breakthrough T1D Metro Detroit & SE Michigan Chapter Board President
in General
We are pleased to introduce Eric Dietz as our 2016-2018 Chapter Board President! Eric has been on the Breakthrough T1D Metro Detroit & Southeast Michigan Board of Directors since July 2007 and formerly served as our Chapter Board Treasurer.
Eric was born and raised in the Metro Detroit area and currently resides in Troy with his wife, Karen, and their two children, Lauren (21) and Jason (15). Eric is a Senior Vice President & the Region Manager of Huntington National Bank’s Private Banking office in Birmingham.
His oldest child, Lauren, was diagnosed with T1D on January 13, 2006 at the age of eleven. Like many families affected, they had no prior knowledge of the disease and had no other family members with T1. Their family was determined not to let T1 change her daily lifestyle. Lauren was a competitive swimmer in High School and co-captain as a senior. She is now attending Michigan State University and traveling abroad this summer in Scotland.
In addition to serving on the Executive Board for the past 8 years, Eric has also been very active with the Breakthrough T1D Promise Ball committee and is currently forming a new walk team at Huntington Bank for the upcoming Warren OneWalk. He and Lauren will also be running for Breakthrough T1D in the Detroit Free Press Half Marathon this October.
