TEAM SCHOSTAK FAMILY RESTAURANTS DONATES
MORE THAN $78,380 FOR Breakthrough T1D

More than 100 restaurants participated in the week-long fundraising event

LIVONIA, Mich., Aug. 28, 2017—Livonia, Mich.-based TEAM Schostak Family Restaurants (TSFR), a family-owned restaurant group with an expansive portfolio of casual, quick service and family dining restaurants throughout the state, and its Applebee’s, Olga’s Kitchen, Del Taco and MOD Pizza restaurants throughout Michigan raised $78,286—including a $25,000 donation from TSFR—to benefit Breakthrough T1D (formerly known as Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) during its annual week-long fundraising event earlier this month. TSFR Director of Marketing Barb Pasciak made the announcement.

Throughout the fundraiser, TSFR’s owned and operated 64 Applebee’s, 26 Olga’s Kitchen, eight MOD Pizza and five Del Taco restaurants sold Breakthrough T1D’s paper sneakers in-restaurant to raise awareness and funds to benefit Breakthrough T1D. In addition to selling the paper sneakers for the week, guests were also able to donate $1 or $5 on Friday, August 11 at any of TSFR’s Applebee’s, Olga’s Kitchen, MOD Pizza or Del Taco restaurants in exchange for a coupon good for a free item from a select menu. A leading global organization exclusively focused on ending Type 1 Diabetes, the funds collected for Breakthrough T1D have been earmarked toward accelerating life-changing breakthroughs to cure, prevent and treat Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) and its complications.

“TSFR and our portfolio of restaurants have been proud long-time supporters of Breakthrough T1D and have witnessed the widespread impact T1D has not only on the lives of those diagnosed with it, but also their loved ones,” said Pasciak. “As a local owner and operator of more than 100 fan-favorite restaurants, we are thankful for the generous donations made by our loyal guests to help improve the quality of life for these individuals living with T1D. The funds raised will be critical to eliminating this disease for future generations.”

Breakthrough T1D is the leading global organization funding T1D research. With a goal to progressively remove the impact of T1D from people’s lives until a world without T1D is achieved, Breakthrough T1D is the only organization with the scientific resources, regulatory influence, and a working plan to better treat, prevent, and eventually cure T1D.
