This past weekend, the Greater Chesapeake and Potomac Chapter celebrated an inspiring and successful weekend at the Breakthrough T1D Ride to Cure Diabetes in Amelia Island, Florida with 24 riders in attendance. The Ride, including 700 riders from across the U.S., raised almost $3 million, and our Chapter came in second place overall in fundraising with only 25 riders! (Listed below)

Even more heartwarming was our very own #1 fundraiser and Green Jersey winner: the spectacular Ben Etheridge, Senior Vice President of Chesapeake Community Advisors! Raising over $75,000 in honor of his twin children, Megan and Trevor, both of whom live with T1D. In addition to achieving this remarkable feat, Ben also celebrated his 10^th Breakthrough T1D Ride! His passion and unwavering support of Breakthrough T1D and the Ride has inspired other riders to emulate his example, and this year, he was neck and neck with the second place fundraiser. At the awards dinner, Ben, ever the class act, gifted his Green Jersey to the runner up, New York City Chapter’s Joe Mure – which was met with a standing ovation.

The Breakthrough T1D Greater Chesapeake and Potomac Chapter thanks Ben and the entire GCP Team for their tireless fundraising efforts. Each of you embodies the true spirit of turning Type One into Type NONE.
