The Breakthrough T1D annual DC Hope Gala is an extraordinary event, each year bringing together more than 700 prominent members of the Washington, D.C. community for a sparkling evening of fine dining, stellar entertainment and an exciting auction that each year raises millions towards funding research to prevent, treat and ultimately cure type 1 diabetes.
We are so excited to have you as our guest at the Breakthrough T1D Greater Chesapeake and Potomac Chapter 2015 Hope Gala and are gearing up for a fantastic evening! The Hope Gala is a night of celebration and courage for all those living with and affected by type 1 diabetes(T1D). Each person in attendance has the unique opportunity to directly impact and advance T1D research and technology advancements through his/her participation. We have highlighted below the many different ways in which guests can participate in the evening and contribute to the success of the Gala. These opportunities include:
SILENT AUCTION
There are over 150 unique items up for bid in the silent auction. With the help of an amazing team of volunteers, we have worked hard to ensure that there is something for everyone! Please refer back to this website a week before the Gala for a preview of our auction items. ALL silent auction sections will close once live auction starts. Make sure to get there early & bid, bid, BID!
LIVE AUCTION
The Live Auction is an entertaining interactive auction filled with exciting and unique items such as trips, “one of a kind” experiences and more. Refer back to this website the a week before the Gala for more specifics.
Please note: Bid cards for you and your guests will be at your table. Live auctions items are not available through Bid Pal.
FUND A CURE
100% of your Fund A Cure donation goes straight to research/research related education and 100% is a tax deductible donation. At the Gala, please take a moment to raise your padal and have a direct impact on type 1 diabetes research.
Note: Please make sure to bring your cellphones fully charged! Guests will have the opportunity to use their smartphones when bidding on silent auction items throughout the night.

CHECK-IN
All guests MUST check in upon entering. Here you will receive your table number, and bid number as well as provide your credit card information for Express Pay.
To minimize your time at check in, please provide Emily Boynton (eboynton@BreakthroughT1D.org) with your full contact information, including cell number prior to the event.
BID PAL
This year’s silent auction will again be fully electronic via your smartphone. For the best experience and early access to the silent auction, please provide a 10-digit cell phone number for you and all guests to Breakthrough T1D before November 7th. You will receive a text message prior to your arrival at The National Building Museum. Simply launch the enclosed personal link to bid early and often right from your fully charged smartphone!

ATTIRE
The Breakthrough T1D Gala is a black tie optional event. Tuxedos and dark suits are appropriate for men. Cocktail or full length dresses are suitable for women.
The National Building Museum
The National Building Museum, historically known as the Pension Building, in Washington, D.C., United States, is a museum of “architecture, design, engineering, construction, and urban planning”. It was created by an act of Congress in 1980, and is a private non-profit institution; it is adjacent to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial and the Judiciary Square Metro station.
