Bring on Summer!
Did you know at 93 degrees Fahrenheit, your insulin starts to get in trouble? The heat can cause insulin to break down, making it ineffective. Heat can also cause unexpected highs and lows in blood sugar management. It’s helpful to be prepared with a T1D plan before heading to the beach or baseball field or jumping in the car for a road trip to the cabin. Check out Breakthrough T1D’s Beat the Heat Summer Guide for practical tips from what to pack to keeping your insulin cool.

South Dakota Walks
April was a busy month for Walks in South Dakota. The Sioux Falls Walk was on April 13th and Rapid City was on April 27th. Mother Nature did not cooperate with us but our families braved the weather and made both events a success. The date has been set for the 2020 Walk in Sioux Falls for May 2nd so mark your calendars. The Black Hills Walk date has not been set yet so stay tuned. The Sioux Falls Walk Appreciation at the Canaries will be on June 30th. V1Ps will receive 2 free tickets, all other tickets are $10 each. We have a suite at the ball park and will gather for a great evening celebrating the walk and connecting with other families. Reserve your tickets today.
South Dakota Walk Partners
We could not have such a successful Walk if we didn’t have such great partners. Thank you to our South Dakota Walk partners for your support of the 2019 South Dakota Walks.
