Current assays employed in the detection of type-1 diabetes are expensive and time consuming, which is why Genalyte‘s new biomarker panel could be a much needed update to the detection process, utilizing Micro Ring sensors constructed using silicon photonic technology. According to the diagnostics company, when used in conjunction with their fully automated Maverick Detection System, the multiplexed antigen panel can measure seven autoantibodies associated with the characteristic destruction of pancreatic islet cells associated with diabetes.
