Colorado continues to be an epicenter of innovation and discovery through Breakthrough T1D funded research. Over the past 20 years, Breakthrough T1D has committed over $47 million in T1D research in Colorado, and is currently investing $13.5 million in active research funding in our state. Additionally, Breakthrough T1D is currently funding 70 active research trials in 21 countries.

The countdown is on for the 20th Anniversary Dream Gala on April 13, a celebration of the progress made over the past 20 years and the hope we have for what’s to come in type 1 diabetes advancements. This black tie event is an inspirational evening that includes a cocktail reception; silent and live auctions; a multi-course dinner; and Breakthrough T1D’s signature Fund a Cure program during which contributions are made directly to research. It’s anticipated that over $875,000 will be raised for Breakthrough T1D’s life-changing mission work here in Colorado and around the globe. 100% of every Fund A Cure donation is invested in research and will make a difference in the lives of those impacted by T1D.

20^th Anniversary Fund A Cure Chairs, Nathalie and Jack Fox, are truly dedicated to and invested in the mission of  Breakthrough T1D. When their son was diagnosed with T1D, they were shocked at the enormous impact of his diagnosis. “It’s more real now than ever that the real-life consequences of type 1 diabetes are significant and dangerous…it’s unrelenting and there is no ‘normal’…”. Because of Breakthrough T1D, Nathalie and Jack are more hopeful than ever. Their son’s artificial pancreas system is just one of the life changing treatments made possible by Breakthrough T1D. This and other technologies are among the exciting treatments on the horizon because of Breakthrough T1D’s commitment to fund research for better treatments and ultimately a cure.

It is through the generous support of volunteers and donors that Breakthrough T1D is able to fund the latest innovations for people who live with T1D. Investing more than $2 billion in research funding since its inception, nearly 80% of Breakthrough T1D’s expenditures go directly to mission and supports research and research-related education. Breakthrough T1D is an industry leader and collaborates  with academic institutions, policymakers, and corporate and industry partners to develop and deliver innovative therapies. Dedicated to advocacy and community engagement, Breakthrough T1D has been uniquely positioned over the past 20 years to focus on specific areas of diabetes research from inception to completion. Breakthrough T1D’s targeted research funding has lead to transformational therapies for people living with T1D; unlocked the mysteries of T1D; and accelerated progress towards a cure. Breakthrough T1D will continue to develop a diverse and dynamic research agenda that moves us ever closer to a world without T1D.
