Celebrating Breakthrough T1D One Walk Colorado

in

Breakthrough T1D One Walk Colorado, presented by Floyd’s 99 Barbershop was held for the first time since 2019 on September 25 at the Jeffco Fairgrounds in Golden, CO! The Colorado type 1 diabetes (T1D) community came out in full force and raised over $450,000 (and counting!) to fund Breakthrough T1D’s mission work.

We want to take a moment to give a round of applause for our top fundraisers and their unwavering commitment to creating a world without T1D.

  • Mountainous Maniacs, led by Owen Bradley, was the top fundraising team, raising an impressive $28,000. Mountainous Maniacs has walked since Owen was diagnosed with T1D in 2020, but this year they got to experience the magic of Walk Day for the first time!
  • Our top individual fundraiser was Jim Tripp of team Tripp Towards a Cure. Jim is a veteran team captain and has lived with T1D since 2002. In honor of his 20th year living with T1D, Jim hit a personal fundraising record!
  • The coveted Rookie of the Year award, which is earned by the first-year team who raises the most money, was team ‘Pump’ Those Arms, captained by Sydney Lewis. Sydney and her team cut the ribbon at the Start Line and led our walkers out on the route!

The day was emceed by KKTV’s evening anchor, Adam Atchison. Adam celebrated his 25th year living with T1D in 2022 and shared his story with the crowd. Walkers enjoyed Floyd’s 99 Barbershop signature blue hair (and beard) spray! 165 family and corporate teams joined us for Breakthrough T1D One Walk this year, proving that we are truly stronger together.
