Our journey with type 1 diabetes began in 2010 when our daughter Laila was diagnosed at just 3 years old. With no family history, the diagnosis was a complete shock. We were overwhelmed, scared, and searching for hope.

That hope arrived in the form of a mother and daughter from JDRF (now Breakthrough T1D), who visited us in the hospital with a Bag of Hope and—more importantly—answers. They were the first people we’d met who truly understood what we were going through. Seeing their healthy, thriving teenage daughter gave us something we desperately needed: peace and possibility.

Since then, we’ve met hundreds—if not thousands—of people who are also fighting this battle. Many of them have become like family to us. They are the rainbows that have helped us weather the storms.

For the past 10 years, we’ve proudly partnered with Breakthrough T1D to raise funds, build community, and spread awareness. Every dollar raised brings us one step closer to a world without type 1 diabetes. We are honored to serve as the 2025 Utah Hope Gala’s Fund A Cure Family.
