More about our featured speaker: Maria Bettini is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Pathology at the University of Utah. She earned her Ph.D. in Immunology and Molecular Pathogenesis from Emory University in 2006. She then trained as a postdoctoral fellow with Dr. Brian Evavold at Emory University and with Dr. Dario Vignali at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. In 2013, she started her independent laboratory to focus her research on the mechanisms of autoimmunity and loss of tolerance in type 1 diabetes. Her current efforts are directed towards improving regulatory T cell function for treatment of autoimmunity.
