Breakthrough T1D Heartland Chapter 2015 TypeOneNation!

On Saturday, January 24, the Breakthrough T1D Heartland Chapter hosted its annual TypeOneNation Outreach Event at the Embassy Suites, Omaha-La Vista. More than 200 people attended the event, with over 70 families from Omaha, Lincoln, and greater Nebraska! The event was a great opportunity to meet other individuals living with type 1 diabetes (T1D), exchange ideas, and learn more about Breakthrough T1D’s progress towards a cure.

Highlights included keynote speaker Moira McCarthy Stanford, sharing her message of thriving in life despite diabetes. A panel of endocrinologists from Omaha and Lincoln participated in an “Ask the Experts” session. Other information sessions that were provided were taking diabetes to school, technology/social media, a research update, teen and adult specific sessions, as well as a diabetes vendor fair.
