She says, &#8220;As a Pediatric Endocrinologist, one of my hardest jobs is to meet you in the ER, PICU, or clinic to tell your family life altering news. While I\u2019m not physically present for every high and low of diabetes, I see part of my roll as a cheerleader to help get you through the ups and downs of life with diabetes. I\u2019ll be walking for the children of Newark with my family.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>At our TypeOneNation Summit last year, Dr. Verardo participated in a breakout discussion specifically addressing the need for a support system when you or a loved one are faced with a T1D diagnosis.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Verardo earned her BS in Biology from Northeastern University and her Doctor Medicine from New York Medical College. She was a Pediatric Endocrinology Fellow at Johns Hopkins University and an Assistant Professor at the Connecticut Children&#8217;s Medical Center prior to joining RWJBarnabas Halth.
