Fundraising with Social Media 101
in Awareness, Fundraising
Looking to jumpstart your fundraising? Sharing your story on social media is a great way to raise both funds and awareness for Breakthrough T1D One Walk. Here are several tips – and some sample posts – to get started.
Not yet registered for this year’s Breakthrough T1D One Walk? Visit walk.jdrf.org to register!
There are two ways to start sharing on social media:
- Use the Breakthrough T1D One Walk Facebook Application to ask for donations, share information about Walk and recruit others to join your team. With this application you can create your own posts or schedule posts.
- Skip the app and directly post on your social media streams, including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. You don’t have to use the Fundraise with Facebook application to share your story. Create your own posts, use your own photos or even upload a video appeal!
Sample social media posts:
Be sure to make your posts personal; after all, no one knows your personal connection to type 1 diabetes (T1D) better than you do!
- Did you know that 29 million Americans are currently living with some form of diabetes? This fall, I’m walking to change that. I’m teaming up with Breakthrough T1D to make a difference for all those affected by type 1 diabetes. Support <your team name> and donate to help Breakthrough T1D find a cure for #T1D! <link to your fundraising page>
- Finding a cure for type 1 diabetes means no more finger pricks, insulin injections and carb counting. It means never hearing the words “you have diabetes” again. Help me find a cure for #T1D by donating to support my #JDRFOneWalk team today! <link to your fundraising page>
- I’m lacing up my sneakers on <walk date> to walk for a world without type 1 diabetes and need your support! Every donation makes a difference. Every dollar brings us one step closer to a cure! #T1D <link to your fundraising page>
