National Diabetes Awareness Month (NDAM) is celebrated every November so people across the country can unite and raise awareness for diabetes and the impact it has on millions of Americans.

Join us this month as our local type 1 diabetes (T1D) community bands together to create a buzz and raise awareness of this disease and the urgent need to accelerate life-changing breakthroughs to cure, prevent and treat T1D.

November 1 to 9: Boscov’s Candy Exchange

Visit Boscov’s at the Woodbridge, Monmouth or Ocean County Mall to exchange your Halloween candy for something much sweeter—a $10 gift card! To participate, please complete this form and submit to Breakthrough T1D by October 28.

Monday, Nov. 5: Navigating Health Insurance | Jackson, NJ

Join us to help break down your health insurance coverage options and provide information on several key areas you’ll want to consider as you select and then use your health insurance plan.

Thursday, Nov. 8: Teen Talk of Northwest NJ | Succasunna, NJ

Do you have a teenager living with T1D? Teen Talk is an opportunity for teens with T1D to share and hang out. And, a perfect place for parents to connect as well!

Friday, Nov. 9: Holiday PJ Party | Bridgewater, NJ

Join us at Open Road in Bridgewater for a fun holiday party of dancing, games, crafts and a visit from our very own Rufus. Wear your holiday pj’s. Space is limited, so you must RSVP to Gretchen Van Mater.

Sunday, Nov. 11: NY Jets vs. Buffalo Bills Football Game | MetLife Stadium

Support Breakthrough T1D’s Young Leadership Committee (YLC) as we watch the Jets take on the Bills at 1 p.m. YLC grabbed an amazing deal on tickets and is passing the savings along to you! Purchase your ticket today and raise money for critical T1D research.

Before the game, YLC will host a charity tailgate, starting at 11 a.m. Join us for corn hole, Kan Jam, ladder toss and more! Entry to the tailgate is free and food and drinks will be available for purchase. All proceeds will benefit Breakthrough T1D.

Sunday, Nov. 11: Growler & Gill Guest Bartending Fundraiser | Nanuet, NY

Join us for a fun night at a local pub featuring our guest bartenders in Rockland County. All tips earned by our guest bartenders are donated to Breakthrough T1D!

Saturday, Nov. 17: Teen Talk of Oradell | Oradell, NJ

Join Brianna at the Oradell Public Library for an opportunity to share and hang out.  We are looking to make this a recurring event and are looking forward to hearing your ideas about where you’d like to go and what you want to do! Parents are welcome to join!

Monday, Nov. 19: T1D Tweens Meet Up | Asbury Park, NJ

All tweens (ages 10-14) living with T1D are invited to this monthly meet up to hang out with their peers living with T1D for advice, support (or just to vent) and have a good time. We’re heading to Silverball Arcade Museum this month!

Tuesday, Nov. 27: Adult Networking Group | Manalapan, NJ

Looking for an opportunity to network with other adults with T1D? Whether you were diagnosed yesterday or 20 years ago, join us for dinner or a drink and connect with other adults living with T1D.
