Eva Rosa shares “Raising Your Voice to Improve Lives Through Advocacy”

Breakthrough T1D Advocacy volunteer Eva Rosa will be presenting “Raising Your Voice to Improve Lives Through Advocacy” at this year’s TypeOneNation Summit.  She will be covering a range of topics, including an overview of Breakthrough T1D Advocacy, our teams and priorities, accomplishments and share more about what Breakthrough T1D advocates do.

Eva Rosa

Eva Rosa is the proud mother of Isa, 9, and Antonio, 7. After Isa was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 6, Eva and her family participated in Breakthrough T1D One Walk – just two months after Isa’s diagnosis! As a team captain, Eva worked hard to raise funds and awareness for Breakthrough T1D.

Eva’s family motto is “it takes a little voice to make a big difference.” That’s why Eva and Isa jumped at the chance to join Breakthrough T1D as advocates at a Promise to Remember Me meeting with Senator Robert Menendez and Congressman Rodney Frelinghuysen. And, when Senator Menendez pledged to support the Medicare CGM coverage bill, it was then that Eva realized the impact of advocacy.

In 2017, Eva and Isa attended Children’s Congress, and Eva officially joined the chapter Advocacy Committee. Eva and Isa continue to use their voice – meeting with mayors, school boards and local Assemblymen – to make a big difference.
