Leatrice Knohl Leaves Bequest to Breakthrough T1D

Longtime Breakthrough T1D advocate and T1D Champion, Ms. Leatrice Knohl, left a bequest to Breakthrough T1D for the purpose of research. The gift was made by her estate in loving memory of her parents, Frances and Joseph Knohl. Ms. Knohl passed away in April 2010.

Born in New York City, Ms. Knohl moved to Linden as a young child and was a resident until moving into an assisted living facility in 2011. She attended Linden schools and then graduated from New Jersey City University with a Bachelor of Science degree and from Rutgers University with a masters degree in Education.

She was employed by the Linden Board of Education as an elementary school teacher and retired after teaching for 39 years. Leatrice Knohl was a member of the NJ Retired Educators Association, the NJ Education Association, the National Education Association, retired, Union County Education Association, and the Linden Active Seniors.

To date, Breakthrough T1D has received more than $150 million from legacy gifts and currently 3,800+ supporters have shared that they have included commitments to Breakthrough T1D with an estimated value of more than $250 million.
