Cox Family Stores<\/a> and Shell<\/a> gas stations have partnered on a philanthropic initiative – The Giving Pump. From August 1st through October 31st, at Participating Stations<\/a> around NorCal communities, one pump at each station will be prominently marked with colorful signage as The Giving Pump. Any consumer who simply fills up at that designated pump will have a portion of their purchase donated to Breakthrough T1D. The donation will not cost you, the consumer, anything! Breakthrough T1D is extremely grateful to the Cox Family Stores and Shell for supporting our mission and our vision for a world without type 1 diabetes (T1D).<\/p>\n

A Family Business Supporting Breakthrough T1D<\/strong><\/p>\n

Cox Family Stores is family owned and operated, with three generations involved in the business. Headquartered in Pleasanton, CA, their stores serve the Tri-Valley and Lake Tahoe area communities. The family is passionately involved with Breakthrough T1D as type 1 diabetes (T1D) has touched them personally.<\/p>\n

Katelyn Mooney says, “It was a given that our family business chose Breakthrough T1D for the Shell Giving Pump campaign with the background and history we have with them. I was diagnosed with T1D at the age of 11. This past July 15th marked 18 years. My older sister Ashley also has T1D and has had it since the age of 16. When I was younger, we were very involved and participated in the Breakthrough T1D Walk for over eight years. This is such an amazing cause and my family has continued to support me, my sister, and others with this fight against T1D. We are all hopeful to one day find a cure and every dollar raised brings us closer!”<\/p>\n
