That means you could have more time to decide how to prepare for future medical needs, long before insulin is required. In some cases, you may even be able to delay disease progression. People who have a first-degree family member (sibling, parent, child) with T1D are at an increased risk (15x) for developing the condition. Youth ages 4-17 (at the time of the event) with T1D are encouraged to apply for this once-in-a-lifetime experience to meet with Federal decision makers in Washington D.C. to advocate for research funding and insulin affordability<\/p>\n<p>Breakthrough T1D Young Adult Advocacy Council: Young adults ages 18-26 actively support the advancement of our advocacy priority areas, spread awareness of T1D within their communities, and inspire youth to use their voices and share their stories with key decision makers.
