{"id":24468,"date":"2025-02-12T01:32:20","date_gmt":"2025-02-12T01:32:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.breakthrought1d.org\/northernca\/?p=24468"},"modified":"2026-08-21T19:32:02","modified_gmt":"2026-08-21T19:32:02","slug":"meet-the-2025-san-francisco-hope-gala-youth-ambassadors","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.breakthrought1d.org\/norcal\/2025\/02\/12\/meet-the-2025-san-francisco-hope-gala-youth-ambassadors\/","title":{"rendered":"Meet the 2025 San Francisco Hope Gala Youth Ambassadors"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Breakthrough T1D San Francisco Hope Gala will celebrate its 26th year on March 8, 2025, bringing the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breakthrought1d.org\/t1d-community\/\">T1D community<\/a> together for an unforgettable night with a festive masquerade theme at the iconic Beaux-Arts San Francisco City Hall for the first time.<\/p>\n<p>Our Hope Gala Youth Ambassadors, young leaders living with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breakthrought1d.org\/t1d-basics\/\">type 1 diabetes<\/a> (T1D), will engage with guests and take part in the program, inspiring all to join our mission.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Meet the 2025 San Francisco Hope Gala Youth Ambassadors:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h3><strong>ABIGAIL<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Age: 10 | Age at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breakthrought1d.org\/t1d-basics\/diagnosis\/\">T1D Diagnosis<\/a>: 7<\/p>\n<p><strong>What is the hardest part of living with T1D?<\/strong> Being treated differently.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What would a cure mean to you?<\/strong> Everything, because I could live carefree.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>BRILEY<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Age: 12 | Age at T1D Diagnosis: 11<\/p>\n<p><strong>What is the hardest part of living with T1D?<\/strong> Being \u201cdifferent\u201d from my friends.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What would a cure mean to you?<\/strong> There would be a world without T1D and that would be so amazing.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>CLARA<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Age: 7 | Age at T1D Diagnosis: 4<\/p>\n<p><strong>What is the hardest part of living with T1D?<\/strong> Having to wear devices and doing finger pokes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What would a cure mean to you?<\/strong> Freedom to do anything.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>JULIAN<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Age: 6 | Age at T1D Diagnosis: 2<\/p>\n<p><strong>What is the hardest part of living with T1D?<\/strong> When I have to be brave getting my\u202fblood drawn.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What would a cure mean to you?<\/strong> I could eat whenever I want without having to tell an adult!<\/p>\n<h3><strong>KIREN<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Age: 13 | Age at T1D Diagnosis: 11<\/p>\n<p><strong>What is the hardest part of living with T1D?<\/strong> Bolusing and not being able to eat icees without having to think about it first.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What would a cure mean to you?<\/strong> My life would be so much easier, and I could focus so much time on other things.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>LILY<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Age: 7 | Age at T1D Diagnosis: 6<\/p>\n<p><strong>What is the hardest part of living with T1D?<\/strong> Port changes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What would a cure mean to you?<\/strong> No more beeps!<\/p>\n<h3><strong>MAX<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Age: 17 | Age at T1D Diagnosis: 2<\/p>\n<p><strong>What is the hardest part of living with T1D?<\/strong> I never get a break from it, even while sleeping.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What would a cure mean to you?<\/strong> A cure would give me back freedom, flexibility and spontaneity.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>MJ\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Age: 5 | Age at T1D Diagnosis: 5<\/p>\n<p><strong>What is the hardest part of living with T1D?<\/strong> Managing what I can eat and when. Always having to know what my blood sugar is.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What would a cure mean to you?<\/strong> No more pokes and devices to wear.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>REMI<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Age: 13 | Age at T1D Diagnosis: 7<\/p>\n<p><strong>What is the hardest part of living with T1D?<\/strong> For me, is that it is constant. It never goes away. There is never a break. It will always come first. If I\u2019m already having a hard day being a human, the worst part is having to deal with T1D as well.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What would a cure mean to you?<\/strong> Freedom. Free from daily challenges, free from injections, free from health risks, and free from the pressure of keeping myself alive every day. I would be able to live without the fear of any complications. It would truly be a dream come true.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>SPENCER<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Age: 16 | Age at T1D Diagnosis: 2<\/p>\n<p><strong>What is the hardest part of living with T1D?<\/strong> Constantly thinking about my blood sugar. Especially staying up late at night worrying about my numbers and being uncertain on what direction it will go.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What would a cure mean to you?<\/strong> Freedom to think of other things and a good night&#8217;s sleep. I could go to bed at peace without the thought of having to check my CGM every 5 minutes.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>The San Francisco Hope Gala is a signature event that attracts social and business leaders from across Northern California.
