This year\u2019s lineup brings together leading experts in type 1 diabetes<\/a> (T1D) research, care, and management. Dr. Anastasia Albanese-O\u2019Neill, Vice President of Medical Affairs at Breakthrough T1D, will deliver the keynote Breakthroughs in Type 1 Diabetes: Where We Are, Where We Are Going.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Honeymoon Phase 101: What to Know When You\u2019re New to T1D<\/h2>\n

T1D occurs when the body\u2019s immune system attacks the insulin-producing beta cells in the pancreas\u2014but this happens gradually over time. After diagnosis, many people experience a \u201choneymoon phase,\u201d when the body still produces some insulin.
