This season’s Top Research Highlights shares with you news about how Breakthrough T1D is taking a number of approaches to advance science to cure, better treat, andprevent type 1 diabetes (T1D). Find out about Breakthrough T1D’s support for research with high-power microscopes to view the autoimmune attackon beta cells in T1D. We also report on a study that used essential material (human tissue samples) obtained through nPOD, a Breakthrough T1D collaborative research project, to better understand what happens during this autoimmune attack.
And on the subject of collaboration, in this issue you can learn about how Breakthrough T1D brought together experts for the first conference on biomarkers in T1D. Biomarkers are measurements that have the potential to identify the stage, progress, or response to treatment for a disease.
