Get ready to shred down the mountain and not let your diabetes stop you! Riding On Insulin is a great place to meet other kids and teens. Pro-snowboarder and type 1 diabetic Sean Busby will take kids on the ride of their life, showing how to manage your diabetes on the mountain when altitude, humidity and climate all play a role. Riding On Insulin will take place on April 13th at Squaw Valley Resort near Lake Tahoe, California.

Riding On Insulin camps are open to beginners, intermediate and advanced riders ages 7-17. The day is spent on the mountain, skiing or snowboarding in groups with kids of the same ability level, coaches who have type 1 diabetes, and medical staff to assist in managing diabetes! The program is a family-friendly event where siblings and family members are welcome to attend. Parents are encouraged to attend a parent networking session in the morning, as well as to take advantage of discounted lift tickets. Saturday night, Sean Busby will give a presentation after the awards and banquet about his story with diabetes as well as photos from his expeditions to some of the world’s most remote mountains in Iceland, Antarctica, Kyrgyzstan and more. Riding On Insulin is also accepting applications for volunteers  18+ for this event—experience on snow is not always necessary, but encouraged. We take on-snow coaches with type 1 diabetes (or someone with a connection to type 1 diabetes), on-snow medical volunteers (nurses, diabetes educators, doctors, etc. that enjoy skiing and snowboarding), and indoor medical volunteers (no skiing or snowboarding experience needed). If you, or someone you know is interested in applying to volunteer, visit this link for all the information: https://www.regonline.com/roivolunteertahoe2013
