Ford Motor Company has a long history of supporting Breakthrough T1D as an elite global partner. The company has been a valued corporate champion for decades, providing annual research grants, the Breakthrough T1D Race Car Design contest, vehicle auctions, sponsoring and participating in the Breakthrough T1D One Walk on a national level. When the great-great-grandson of Henry Ford, Albert Ford, was diagnosed with T1D at the age of four in 1996, the company created the employee-driven Ford Global Action Team (FGAT) for Breakthrough T1D. By bringing together thousands of volunteers, the FGAT has combined passion and power to raise more than $3 million annually for the past 15 years. Under the leadership of Edsel B. Ford II, with more than 90 fundraising teams across 40 global sites, the company has raised more than $58 million to help Breakthrough T1D create a world without T1D.
Now, The Lincoln Motor Company, a division of Ford, has joined Breakthrough T1D Bay Area in the fight against T1D. The company generously sponsored our Tee to Table golf, tennis, and culinary event last year, and is Presenting Sponsor for this year’s event, happening on March 3, 2017 at The Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay. The company is also the golf tournament’s “Hole in One” sponsor, offering exciting prize opportunities.
“Ford is proud of its ongoing partnership with Breakthrough T1D in the fight to cure type 1 diabetes,” says Edsel B. Ford II, Board Director, Ford Motor Company. “We are excited to participate once again in this unique and successful event to raise funds to support Breakthrough T1D research.”
“This has been such a great partnership and wonderful experience for all parties involved,“ says Magda Lara, Associate Executive Director, Breakthrough T1D Greater Bay Area Chapter. “They decided to come back this year at an even higher level and we are so grateful for their contributions. Ford Motor Company is making a real impact, not only on the local level but globally as well. They truly set the standard for corporate partnership.”
