After a corporate vote, VSP Global’s Employees selected Breakthrough T1D as their 2019 corporate-sponsored charity. As a vision company, partnering with Breakthrough T1D provides VSP an opportunity to continue to champion the role eye care plays in health and wellness—helping align their strategic goals of supporting their doctors, members, and community.
As part of the year-long partnership, VSP is participating and sponsoring Breakthrough T1D One Walks across the country, including Sacramento, where their corporate office is headquartered. Chief Technology Officer and President of Eyefinity, Earnie Franklin, is serving as the company champion helping to spearhead the efforts across the company. Earnie’s experience with Breakthrough T1D is not new. In 2013, he served as Corporate Chair for the Jacksonville Florida One Walk helping to raise $400,000. He first become involved with Breakthrough T1D when his good friend’s daughter was diagnosed with type one diabetes. Since then, he has been a supporter and advocate on behalf of all T1D’s.
VSP will also have walk teams at other major employee hubs located in Columbus, Ohio and Melville, New York. In addition to funds raised by employees, their primary goal is to engage employees through participation in fundraisers, volunteer and educational opportunities.
We are incredibly grateful to VSP and their employees for helping to raise awareness about type 1 diabetes and generate funds to support research, advocacy, and support for millions of people around the world.
