About
Please join us for our next Breakthrough T1D T1D Adults Hike Don’t Spike event on Saturday June 29th in Pacifica’s San Pedro Valley Park. The hike will take us up two gradual peaks and down through two valleys, with options to hike ~5 miles / 1000’ elevation gain, or the full ~7 miles / 1500’, and is considered a moderate hike. It’s a nice mix of shade and sun, passing through coastal scrub (Manzanita), wildflowers (California Beeplant), and cool stands of Eucalyptus with distant views of the coast and a chance of afternoon fog pouring over the mountaintops. There is parking ($6 cash entry fee), bathrooms, and picnic tables at the Park. This is the latest series of events designed for T1D adults who enjoy trail hikes of ~5-8 miles at 2-2.5 mph in the Bay Area with other like-minded T1D adults, and who enjoy the benefits for glucose control that hikes can provide. Before hitting the trail, we’ll share tips with each other on managing T1D in the great outdoors. If interested, please register for the hike on the 29th, or just sign up with Breakthrough T1D to be informed about future hikes. Hope to see you at Hike Don’t Spike soon!
