T1D Adults “Hike Don’t Spike”

February 16, 2025, Crockett, CA
9:00 am

Our February Breakthrough T1D Hike Don’t Spike event for adults will be on Sunday, February 16th in the East Bay’s Crockett Hills Regional Park. This is a relatively easy-to-moderate 6 mile, 900’ elevation gain hike atop the peaceful, green, rolling hills overlooking the Carquinez Bridge. There are several loop-back opportunities if an early return is needed, and along with its gentle slopes, this is a good hike for all experience levels. The serpentine trails trace the hilltops and are mostly unshaded, but the marine breezes off San Pablo Bay keep it comfortable, with the updrafts attracting soaring hawks. Cattle grazing is ongoing, but this is a very dog-friendly hike. We’ll meet at 9AM in the Crockett Hills Regional Park Staging Area, which has free parking and bathroom facilities.

This is the latest in a series of events designed for T1D adults who enjoy trail hikes of ~5-8 miles in the Bay Area with other like-minded T1D adults, and who enjoy the benefits for glucose control that hikes can provide. Before hitting the trail, we’ll share tips with each other on managing T1D in the great outdoors. If interested, please register for the February hike at the button below, or just sign up with Breakthrough T1D to be informed about future hikes. Hope to see you at Hike Don’t Spike!
