About
Our next Breakthrough T1D Hike Don’t Spike event for adults will on Saturday, January 18th, going from the trailhead along Mt. Tam’s Panoramic Highway to Muir Woods and back. (Meet in the trailhead parking lot on Panoramic Highway directly across from the Mountain Home Inn.) This will be a moderate, ~6.8-mile, 1300’ elevation gain hike dropping from the aptly named Panoramic Highway into protected ravines with Redwoods and Firs overhead, fungi and bridges underfoot, and active streams trailside. With any luck, we may see over-wintering gatherings of ladybugs (called a loveliness of ladybugs) in Muir Woods. There are two lots for parking with bathrooms available at the start and after 2 miles. Unfortunately, no dogs are allowed on this hike. We’ll meet at 9AM in the trailhead parking lot on Panoramic Highway directly across from the Mountain Home Inn.
This is the latest in a series of events designed for T1D adults who enjoy trail hikes of ~5-8 miles in the Bay Area with other like-minded T1D adults, and who enjoy the benefits for glucose control that hikes can provide. Before hitting the trail, we’ll share tips with each other on or just sign up with Breakthrough T1D to be informed about future hikes. Hope to see you at Hike Don’t Spike!
