Spring Travel and T1D
Spring is in the air – and that means Spring Break is right around the corner!
Travel can be a bit of a challenge for people with T1D; however, we’ve got some tips to help you fuel your wanderlust!
Plan as you pack – Make a list of all your supplies and check them off as you go:
- Insulin
- Syringes
- Test Strips
- Lancets
- Injector Pens (if used)
- Extra infusion sets (if used)
- Emergency glucagon
- Copies of prescriptions for medications and devices
Remember to keep your essentials – like your insulin – in your carry-on bag!
Pack extra snacks and low items, such as glucose tabs, as flights and food service can be delayed.
Traveling – If you’re flying, be sure to allow for extra time to go through security. Let the TSA Agents know that you are wearing either a Continuous Glucose Monitor or an insulin pump if need be.
Lastly, remember to enjoy your vacation!
