Bring your Rufus Bear (or favorite stuffed animal) for a morning of T1D Research Activities at 4Roots Farm in Orlando!
You’re invited to Research with Rufus!
Join us in a research activity for Rufus presented by AdventHealth, meet life-sized Rufus the Bear with Diabetes, an educational session for parents/caregivers, and giveaways for everyone!
Please bring your Rufus Bear to the event! If your T1D child does NOT have a Rufus be sure to indicate that on the registration form so we can try to get one for them in time for the event. For any child/sibling attending the event that does not live with T1D they can bring a stuffed animal with them to participate in the event. We will have Breakthrough T1D t-shirts for any stuffed animals that want one!
While children of any age are welcome, the program will be most appropriate for children under 13.
Agenda Overview:
- 10:00am – Guest Arrival & Check-in Begins
- Mingle with other Guests
- Get Rufus (or other stuffed animal) his Breakthrough T1D shirt
- Pictures with Life-Size Rufus
- Drinks & Snacks Available
- 10:20am – Simultaneous Programs:
- Parents & Caregivers Presentation – Food and Nutrition Research with a Focus on Diet Quality and Managing T1D – Presented by Daria Igudesman, PhD, RD
- Kids Presentation – Build Rufus his research lab and equipment with Legos and coloring activity!
- 11:00am – Break (snacks, drinks, & RR)
- 11:15am – Simultaneous Programs:
- Parents & Caregivers Presentation – TBD
- Kids Presentation – Interactive Food and Nutrition Research Activity with Daria Igudesman, PhD, RD – will conclude with an AdventHealth doctor’s white coat for stuffed animals
- 11:50am – presentations wrap
- 12:00pm – Event concludes
4Roots Farm
Parking: Parking is free onsite at 4Roots Farm close to the building.
Directions:
- 408 Expressway: Take 408 expressway exit (Northbound) John Young Parkway .. Continue northbound on John Young Parkway and cross over Colonial Drive. The next light is W.D. Judge Drive, pass the light and the farm will be on your right. If you reach Princeton Street, you have gone to far.
- I-4 Expressway (Eastbound/Westbound): I-4 Expressway to Princeton Street. Take Princeton Street exit heading west. Continue on Princeton Steet until you come to John Young Parkway. Landmarks: Aldi and Subaru. Make a left on John Young Parkway. Next light is W.D. Judge Drive. Make a U-turn at the light and the farm campus will be on your right.
