The Breakthrough T1D Walk to Cure Diabetes is on September 28, 2013 at 7:30 AM at Victory Plaza at American Airlines Center, and we hope you are as excited as we are! Walk day will be a fun-filled celebration of all of our accomplishments. Thank you for all of your hard work and efforts to fundraise. We look forward to seeing all of your smiling faces, beaming with the pride of all that we have achieved.
• Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. at the Jack Daniels Club
• Program begins at 8:15 a.m.
• Walk starts at 9:00 a.m.
• Event ends at 12:00 p.m.

Where is the Walk taking place?
Walkers will begin at Victory Plaza and start their 2.5 mile route through downtown Dallas and end back at Victory Plaza.
How long is the Walk route?
2.5 miles
What time is registration open?
7:30 a.m
What time does Kidsville open?
7:30 a.m.
Kidsville closes at 11:30 a.m.
What time does the stage program begin?
8:15 a.m.
What time does the Walk kick off?
9:00 a.m.
What time does the Walk end?
It depends on how fast you walk, typically one hour.
What time does the event end?
12 p.m.
What if it rains?
The walk is happening rain or shine!
What if I am unable to walk that far?
Participants not able to walk the distance can remain on the plaza for their group to return. In case of emergency, we will have EMS Vehicles located nearby.
Where is registration?
Jack Daniels Club located on the southeast corner of the American Airlines Center and the Northeast corner of Victory Plaza – next to Houston Street.
If I registered for the Walk online do I need to check in at registration?
Yes, you need to check in at registration to obtain your t-shirts if applicable, beads, and to drop off any additional donations.
Can I keep raising money after the Walk is completed?
Yes you can continue to raise funds after the walk. Please mail in your additional donations to Breakthrough T1D Greater Dallas. The online fundraising website will remain open for approximately 30 days after the walk.
Do I need to know how much I have raised?
Breakthrough T1D will have a printed record of your funds raised.
How do I deliver last minute donations?
All donations will need to be dropped off at registration located at the Jack Daniels Club. The online fundraising website will remain open for approximately 30 days after the event.
How do I get a t-shirt?
Each participant must raise $100 to receive a Breakthrough T1D Walk t-shirt. T-shirts can be purchased for $100. This does not include the overall team total; it is based on an individual’s amount raised under the particular team.
Where is volunteer check in?
Jack Daniels Club.
Where are team photos taking place?
At the bottom of the stairs closest to Olive Street. There will be a photo check in tent located at the bottom of the stairs.
Can I bring my dog?
Dogs are allowed on the walk route, we have a special Pup Tent at Victory Plaza near Olive Street for our furry friends.
Will there be activities for children?
New this year we have an entire area dedicated for kiddos, Kidsville located across the street from the W Hotel at the corner of Olive and Victory Park will be the place to be for families.
Is there food available?
Yes we will have an assortment of complimentary food from breakfast tacos to yogurt to sandwiches and snacks.
Is first aid available should we need it?
We will have a nurse located inside of the Jack Daniels Club, along the Walk route and EMS available on Victory Plaza.
What if my family member is experiencing a low blood sugar reading?
We will have glucose tabs throughout the walk route, Kidsville, and on the plaza. There are plenty of food options located on the plaza but we advise you to be prepared for any situation.
Do I have to pay for parking?
Breakthrough T1D has secured two lots that are free to our Walk participants – The Audi Park Parking Lot is located on Houston Street just east of the American Airlines Center and Lot E is located on Victory Lane just west of the American Airlines Center.
Is there a place for new families to meet up?
New this year we have a New Family Tent located in Kidsville. Kidsville is located across from the W Hotel.
I am a vendor, where do I need to go in the morning?
Load along Valor Pl. and park in Lot A13 (parking pass required).
Can I bring a cooler and chairs?
Yes.
Can I bring a family tent?
Yes, families will be able to set up their tents near the AAC.
How do I get my Walk prizes?
Your prize catalog will be emailed to you shortly after the walk awards ceremony on November 7th.
Will there be live entertainment?
Yes we have a fun day filled with entertainment!
Will there be gluten free options?

Where is lost and found?
Registration
Is there a storage place where we can secure our belongings while we walk the route?
No we are not responsible for lost or stolen items.
Will there be restrooms at the Walk?
We will have several restrooms located on the plaza, near Kidsville and there will be a restroom located at check point #2.
Is there a Breakthrough T1D information booth?
Yes, located on Victory Plaza and will have a ton of great information about upcoming events and how you can help Breakthrough T1D!
Last year my child living with T1D received a Breakthrough T1D Ambassador visor. Will you be giving them away again this year?
At our Breakthrough T1D Government Relations table, we will be handing out visors to our Youth Ambassadors. They will be distributed on a “first come, first serve” basis.
Do we need to bring our Walk Passports to the Walk?
No, please bring it to the Walk Awards on November 7.
I want to include our Team T-shirt in the T-shirt Contest. What are the rules?
T-Shirts are judged on originality and creativity:
- Your t-shirt must include the Current Breakthrough T1D Walk Logo
- Your t-shirt must include your team name.
- T-shirt must be submitted to the Breakthrough T1D Staff on Walk day.
(A collection box will be provided at Registration the morning of the Walk. Your team t-shirt will not be returned). - Limit of one team t-shirt per Walk Team.
Do teams do anything special on Walk Day?
Although personal preference, to promote Team Spirit, some teams opt to make signs and dress in a theme. Be sure to check with your Team Captain to see if they have something special planned.
