Here is a little bit about Cody, written by his mother, Amanda and their reason for fundraising in the Breakthrough T1D One Walk Oklahoma City this year:

What I’ve found is this process of putting a year in perspective gives me hope. Focusing my mind in the right direction. More than sharing my words, this keeps me accountable to stay positive.
April 8th is pretty amazing. Amazing In the fact that you take something like diabetes and celebrate because of it. We can actually look forward to this day now. It’s awesome to hear Cody ask, “hey Mama what are we gonna do for my dia-versary?” (and me not get weepy) Being able to celebrate yet another milestone is priceless. This makes 3 years of this battle. And when he asks “why are we celebrating diabetes?” And I can respond with “we aren’t celebrating diabetes, son, we are celebrating you!” Celebrating all you’ve overcome, all you have yet to accomplish with the firm faith believing you will. It’s almost more powerful than a birthday celebration. The feelings are similar. Live life to the fullest, dream, don’t fear, try new things. Dreaming of all the possibilities that lay ahead. All those age old beliefs and sayings. Maybe for an adult that’s true but it’s really something to see it come straight from a 10 year old. Another old saying. “Out of the mouths of babes” right? Truth. At 10 this child has become such a strong soul. He has resilience and grace (more grace than I have) along with incredible endurance. His faith is growing and he is developing a love for the word of God. He’s read over his children’s bible with delight and has even said on more than one occasion he wants to be a pastor. All of this makes my heart happy. Whether that all comes to be Or not, Just knowing he has the relationship with our God he will so desperately need in his future is an answered prayer. He is Building strong foundations.

Join Cody and his family in fundraising for the 2016 #JDRFOneWalk #OklahomaCity and be an inspiration to everyone living with, and affected by #T1D!
